I DREAMED A DREAM.

I dreamed a dream of Eelam fair
She stood in tears with those who share
The anguish she was forced to bear,
Only because from shore to shore
Her Tamil children dared to raise
Their hands against tyrannies more.

Mass graves and rape, with tortures too,
Imprisonment of innocent before they grew.
For years they languished in dark dreadful places,
While parents begged to see their faces.
Young boys and girls were dying there,
But to ask a question who would dare?
Bombs, hunger, fear and sickness too
On Her dear children grew and grew.

And then my dream it changed and changed!
From rapture to great peace it ranged,
For an Angel stood on our blood soaked sand
And raised his hand and blessed our land.
He spoke and said “Go forth in faith
And in God’s strength and wisdom rest
Your Eelam will be greatly blessed.
She’ll throw off the wicked yoke of years,
No more, no more your ceaseless tears.
In your great strength from God above
Send to all the island the Peaceful Dove,
For it will be God’s messenger of love”

And then I saw the rubble gone
To marshes and waste land forlorn,
And on it spread a vast green lawn
A huge tower stood on it --firm and strong
In memory of martyrs who died
For the freedom the Elavar sought and tried.

Before the tower Olympus spread,
With children, playing laughing free from dread!
“Our martyrs died not in vein!” they said.
Oh! Hear again their joyous refrain
“Our martyrs have not died in vein!!”

Then from afar came thousands of men
From distant lands our kith we ken.
They came to give of their fine minds
Free innovations of many kinds
Architects to plan new lovely towns
Upon green downs, upon our downs!
Doctors, energy wise and research men in every field,
Came to our Eelam their ideas, all free, to yield!
Work done they left, with joy untold
The joy on Elavar faces to behold!

Yes great Thamil Eelam stood in splendor-
A nation which would show the world
How She would truth and toil in honor hold.
An Eelam where justice and joy prevails,
No crime, no fear, but only love,
With all Her gifts from God above.
To Prabhakaran we will all raise
Our grateful thanks and songs of praise.
