It is heartenning to note the presence and the speeches of understanding and solidarity with the sufferings and plight of Tamils in the land of their birth due to intentional state failures. Most of all the points made by the former Prime Minister of Kosovo and present Mayor of Mitrovica whose words have a poignant reminder of a possible future solution.

By any account the scale of human rights violations, crimes against humanity with impunity and war crimes far surpass what happend in Kosovo. By any stretch it is infinitely worse than in Zimbabwe where the West sought condemnation in the UN Security Council and failed unfortunately seemingly because of 'big power politics' at the expense of poor sufferng citizens in a third country.

The right of self-determination in teh north and east of SL has become urgent and pressing because of the rising tide of suffering Tamils by a intransigent bloody minded ethno-religious centered state.

Democracy is founded on the power of the people and not the bullet.it is about time international community recognise the legitimate rights of eelam tamils to rule themselves once again instead of alowing the sinhalese govt to continue with the bogus war on tamils with the help of tamils bought over with money and bullet proof cars for their petty benefit of cheap tea and textiles let alone exporing oil(which has been going on since 1970's near mannar and use of oil refinery faclities in trinco.

http://www.pathivu.com/?p=2077 See what the British Minister says in Colombo even after the Pongu Thamil. I am not suggesting we should accept defeat. We have to tell all these western governments and even India again and again as in the case of anti Iraq war protests and by other individual and collective efforts: "What about our aspirations? You cannot dismiss it because LTTE has the same aspirations. Those of us supporting the LTTE are doing so because of the common aspirations and we had these aspirations from times before the LTTE. We cannot peacefully campaign for these aspirations in Sri Lanka because of the 6th amendment to the constitution. Therefore anyone who is recommending non violent campaign in Sri Lanka must first ensure the deletion of the said 6th amendment....." It is not that these governments will change their colour overnight. But if we can convince significant sections of the people governments will listen. It is a hard and long task but we cannot do anything else and there is nothing wrong in it.
