Discussion(Article: Duraiappah Dossier Part 1) K. Thirukumaran (29 Jul. 2010) Here you go. Booklets in remembrance of their loved ones released on the 31st day anniversary is an age old Tamil tradition, particularly in Jaffna. Yet its not the author of the article but Ilankai Tamil Sangam that is continues to be harbinger of negativist opeds attributed on other fellow Tamils - dead or alive - in most demeaning ways. The Ilankai Tamils Sangam bearing the \'representative\' name of fellow Tamils living in the USA with more than a quarter century of existence is very much an irrelevant body as far as the number of Tamils who has grown several fold in those years. These tirades are \"personal\" and ridiculing and willifying in demeaning ways leaves no place in passing the torch to the next generation. Anonymous (29 Jul. 2010) What has violent path achieved fopr the past 3 decades? Judging from current state of tamils, Thuraippa could be considered a visionary in knowing the mind of sinhalese at that time. Grow up,grow up,grow up and learn to live with sinhalese from now on. Who taught the ability to write good english to tamils?it was the colonials of more than 180 years. Tamils have not been born with silver tounge for moe than 2000 yeara ago. Arul (30 Jul. 2010) Thirukumaran, Rather than simply saying that the information presented is "demeaning” could you please set the story straight if you have authentic information? It is paramount that history needs to be objective. If you feel that something is wrong, I am interested in knowing your version. Anonymous, In hindsight it is very easy to declare that Thuraippa could be considered a visionary. I would agree with you if you have said this in 2001. By the same logic Karuna, Douglas, Pillayan...everyone is a visionary. seelan (10 Aug. 2010) Thuraiappa, must have been an accepted leader to win over Jaffna Tamils twice & defeat the giant of Tamil nationalism, G G in the process. One's political views or allegiances doesn't warrant the elimination of such persons from the society through murder. The tacit support for such murders resulted the destruction of Tamil soul with in for which Tamils are condemned to pay for generations to come. T.Sam Ratnam (29 Jun. 2011) Alfred Duraippa was my immediate neighbour. Our back garden was on to his side garden. We have played tennis bal cricket in our back yard with him. he was much older than me, but he was of the same age as my eldest brother, the late Proferrer Rajaratnam. I came to UK very early in life. When he came to UK, he came to see me with his wife. That was the first time i met her. She seemed very pleasent. When I went back in 1969 to get married I heard about his affliations with SLFP. As he was a womaniser there were strict instructions by my parents not to talk to him. When I heard that he was shot, I was surprised. Who will dare to such a act ?. It all got wasted. Respond |
