(Article: Reconciliation Not Possible?)

Ram Mohan (30 Jul. 2010)

Dr Brian Senewiratne has argued very well why National Reconciliation is not possible based on a sound analysis of ground realities. I have absolutely no dispute with this practical approach. But what is the way forward? For that we need to ask whether the ground realities will change and nobody can deny that possiblity if one looks at it from a historical context. The other leading questions are who wants National Reconciliation or rather who should want National Reconciliation and also who do not want National Reconciliation. In this "democratic and civilised " world nobody will say that they do not want National Reconciliation because nobody declares their intention openly. Capitalism, Imperialism and now Globalised Capitalism is based on EXPLOITATION and exploitation can never be based on Reconciliation of any sorts or even "Peace" of any sorts. So we can understand why Establishments of the world particularly those of India and the West did not support National Liberation nor Reconciliation. The Establishments create the necessary conditions to Ban Liberation movements and in fact quickly Ban and work towards the Elimination of Liberation movements. As Dr Brian has pointed out, the geopolitical interests of the Establishments and the interests of Sinhala Buddhist Genocidal Elements found common ground to destroy LTTE at the expense of colossal number of Tamil civilian lives. This is their mission to survive as unchalleged exploiters as has been the history ever since the development of capitalism. Uneven development of capitalism, imperialism and now Globalised capital depend on the suppression of weaker Nations particularly those who have not achieved statehood which is a prerequisite for Nationhood. So there is no surprise why the enemies of Liberation united so easily and spontaneously but the surprise is that the Sinhala people did not realise that their salvation depended on the salvation of the Tamil Nation. This was possible because of the blinding of the Sinhala population based on the age long prejudice against Tamils based on Mahavansa mindset. This was achieved by blinding even all the "traditional Left" elements and as Dr Brian has pointed out only 0.2% supported the genuine left as recently as April 2010. The blinding of the traditional Left along with the false hope of the Tamils on Indian and Western Establishments (inspite of their banning of the LTTE) coupled with the lip service by the Indian and Western Establishments for non-military solution made it easy for the other Establishments of the world to run to the aid of GOSL to share the spoils of war. Now as expected sharing of the spoils of war in competition by the Establishments of the world is in progress while the Genocidal Sinhala Buddhist elements are busy continuing the WAR WITHOUT RESISTANCE. The Tamil people who depended on false friends feel they are at the weakest point in their history mainly because they do not know their true friends (other Nations without State and other oppressed peoples) and also because they do not realise THEIR HISTORICAL STRENGTH in that the completion of National Liberation is the historical Destiny of the human civilisation now without which Socialism which is the saviour of other oppressed peoples is also not possible. The Indian Establishment which experimented the war without witness in Wanni is now trying to implement it in the tribal regions of India. The Tamils need to support the tribal peoples of India and if other Nations without State and other oppressed peoples see their historic opportunity, we are in for great times ahead A NEW WORLD ORDER MAY NOT BE FAR AWAY.

If you want to know why many Sinhalese people are ridiculously paranoid about federalism, read this site and its ridiculous claims(which have quite a following on facebook).....It demonstrates just how ridiculous and paranoid the sinhalese people are:

It is not a case of whether reconciliation is possible or not. The stark fact is that no reconciliation is going to take place in the foreseeable future.

So what do we do? What steps do we take to preserve what remain of our people over there? how do we care for their well being and uplift? How do we see that our numbers do not dwindle any further? How do we reduce deaths especially among the young and new-born? How do we provide for a better nouirishment? a reasonable livelihood for our people? These are no solutions to the political problem but that is another matter.

These matters could surely be addressed by the diaspora through several avenues?

Let us individually and severally do all what we can do, positively. It is going to be a long haul, anyway!
