Tamils are definitely a nation where state exists in south india. They can be citizens of other nations.

what a non-sense from indian perspective? Tamils of eelam are separate nation which had it's own jaffna kingdom unitll the arrival of british colonialism untouched by dutch 200 years ago.Eelam tamils are not a nation of powerless coolies of tamil nadu who went to malaysia and southafrica and westindies for work in plantation and tea estates of ceylon.

Eelam tamils have been ruling class in ceylon and malaysia during the colonial days. Further so called tamil nadu has no power at all except a so callaled of tamil nadu. Eelam tamils have been fighting for their self determination as far back as 1922.
