Dear Sachi Sri Kantha

I must confess that I am the author of the Tamil Times eulogy of Sanmugam Arumugam, perhaps the clue is in the Dylan Thomas poem with which the article ends! I am his eldest son, born in 1935 and I am a Chartered Engineer.

I am the author of "Nineteenth century American Medical Missionaries in Jaffna, Ceylon: with special reference to Samuel Fisk Green" (2009) and also "Science and Civilization in Sri Lanka, Volume 4, Part 1: D J Wimalasurendra.. and the history of the Laxapana Hydroelectric Scheme". (2012). Volume 4 Part 6 of this series to be written by me will be about the life and work of Sanmugam Arumugam.

Incidentally, the first two parts of the River for Jaffna Scheme, namely the conversion of Vadamarachchi and Upparu Lagoons into fresh water lagoons have recently been completed.

I would be grateful if you could please send me a copy of Part 2 of your article

Please review this article for spelling mistakes as the Title is misspelled for 'Sanmugam' in the article, missing the 'n'.

Sachi Sri Kantha (10 Aug. 2012)

I'm pleased to hear from Thiru Arumugam (the eldest son of Sanmugam Arumugam), that he was the author of the eulogy. I apologize that I negligently omitted the few lines of Dylan Thomas poem which appeared at the end of the eulogy in the original Tamil Times version, to which reference is made.

Part 2 (which will be a review of the 1997 book) will be posted in this site, in the near future.
